Future financial institutions seminars

  • Competition law enforcement in financial services: how the priorities are changing and what's coming next

  • Overview: Competition in financial services markets has been a hot topic for many years - for policy-makers, regulators, firms and consumers. In the UK, for example, we have have seen sustained interest in customer-facing competition - particularly among high street banks.

Now the competition authorities are showing that they are willing to probe deeper into some of the more complex parts of the financial services sector - wholesale markets, more sophisticated products, and the structures that underpin the relationships between financial services companies.

James Aitken, Rod Carlton, Alastair Chapman and Martin McElwee of our antitrust, competition and trade team will explore these developments in our next seminar, and consider:

    • what tools and expertise do competition authorities bring to bear in these new areas?
    • what themes are emerging from their work - both in the UK and across Europe?
    • what strategies can market participants adopt to understand and mitigate their risks?
    • what trends and developments should companies be looking out for?

  •   Please register my interest in this seminar
  • Location: London
    Date: Tuesday 28 February, 1 - 2pm
Speakers: James Aitken, Rod Carlton, Alastair Chapman and Martin McElwee
  • Related practice areas: Financial institutions
