Experience

Lars Westpfahl has been a partner since 2003 and works in our Hamburg office. He is a member of our dispute resolution and finance practice groups and specialises in restructuring and insolvency, corporate litigation and arbitration.

Lars was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, in 1966. He completed his legal education at the universities of Freiburg and Hamburg and the London School of Economics. Lars holds a doctor of laws degree (Dr iur) from the University of Dresden. Before joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer he worked for two US law firms. He has published numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer on both insolvency law and dispute resolution topics. Lars is frequently invited to speak at both domestic and international conferences on restructuring and insolvency matters. He is a member of the Technical Research Committee of INSOL International as well as a member of the International Bar Association, the German Bar Association, INSOL Europe, Northern German In-solvency Forum and the German-American Lawyers' Association.

Lars joined the firm in 1997. He speaks German, English and French.
