Gregorio is a principal associate in Freshfields’ international arbitration group based in our Frankfurt office.
He specializes in commercial and investment arbitration. Gregorio advises and represents corporations and sovereign States in a variety of sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, oil & gas, telecommunications and pharma. He has acted in arbitration proceedings under various rules, including ICSID (and its Additional Facility), UNCITRAL, ICC and LCIA. He is also a member of our Latin American international arbitration group and our Global Projects Disputes Practice.
Gregorio is a lecturer in international arbitration at the University of Roma Tre and the University of Bonn.
Gregorio is an Italian qualified lawyer and speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian and German (intermediate).

Investment disputes:
- Representing the German financial services provider Portigon AG (formerly WestLB) in an ICSID arbitration brought under the Energy Charter Treaty against the Kingdom of Spain. The dispute arises out of Spain’s changes to its feed-in-tariff regime for renewable energy
- Representing two Spanish investors in an UNCITRAL arbitration claim against the Republic of Venezuela arising out of the expropriation of their investments in the food importation and distribution sector
- Representing the Republic of Albania in three ICSID arbitrations concerning the privatization scheme of Albanian state-owned entities, the concession for the operation of the container terminal of Albania's largest port and the concession for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant
- Representing Abertis Infraestructuras in an ICSID arbitration against the Argentine Republic in relation to a highway concession
Construction disputes:
- Representing the major Austrian construction company Strabag SE and its joint venture partner against the Federal Republic of Germany. The claims arise in connection with changes to Germany's regulatory framework applicable to the construction of offshore wind projects as well to the development of a cutting-edge technology
- Assisting a leading European construction company in its dispute concerning the construction of hydropower plant in Latin America
- Assisting a joint venture of two major European contractors in their dispute with a subcontractor in relation to the construction of a water treatment plant
Commercial disputes:
- Representing a major Italian energy corporation in an English-law governed dispute under the LCIA rules concerning offshore drilling in Africa. The dispute arose out of the client’s termination of a drilling rig supply contract
- Representing an Italian energy distributor in an ICC arbitration against a leading energy Swiss corporation in relation to green certificates and related renewable energy incentives
- Representing a German media corporation in two parallel ICC arbitrations arising out of the transfer of its Italian business
