Jan is a commercial property lawyer based at our Hamburg office.
Jan advises domestic and international property investors, developers, financial institutions, and public-sector clients on all aspects of real estate investments. He has a particular interest in special situations and complex projects. He also regularly advises investment funds on regulatory matters.
Before joining Freshfields, Jan worked as a management consultant and was Head of Advisory at a merchant banking firm. In these roles he advised financial institutions and large corporations on portfolio and asset management strategies. He also supported domestic and international real estate investment funds in product launches and placement activities.
As a lawyer, he seeks to combine client-focused legal advice with commercial acumen and an interdisciplinary approach.
Jan is a fully qualified lawyer in Germany.
Besides his legal education, he holds business qualifications including a Master in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge and a doctorate in economics from the University of Hamburg.
He is also a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
