Freshfields moves to 3 World Trade Center

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announced today that it has officially opened the doors of its new New York City office space at 3 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. The firm now occupies floors 51 through 54 in a stand-out building designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Rogers and his firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.

“We’re delighted to anchor our New York office at 3 World Trade,” said Sarah Solum, the US Managing Partner of Freshfields. “The architectural and design choices in our new office space reflect our modern full-service offering for clients and our appeal to the top legal talent in the country, built on the strong foundation of our global, centuries-old firm. The unique bracing on the exterior of the building eliminated the need for corner columns and maximized open lines of sight from within, which beautifully echoes how we are uniquely able to help our clients see around corners thanks to the truly integrated and collaborative culture of our firm across the globe.”

This move to Lower Manhattan signifies another important milestone as Freshfields further expands in the United States. With US offices in New York, Washington DC and Silicon Valley, Freshfields continues to expand its outstanding team of lawyers to serve its growing roster of clients on their most important legal matters.

The new office is modern and sophisticated, designed by Gensler to provide the highest levels of service and comfort for clients, lawyers and professional staff alike. With four contiguous floors, the space is equipped with a split-floor conference center, café, barista coffee bar, conference catering and the latest workplace technology. Additionally, the amenities available at the World Trade Center complex include a vibrant neighborhood, restaurants and shops at the Oculus and cultural events at the Perelman Center, with easy access to transportation.

“We worked diligently to locate and design the ideal space in New York for our clients and colleagues that will also accommodate our continued growth in the US, and 3 World Trade Center is that and more” said Paul Humphreys, Freshfields’ New York Office Managing Partner. “The prime location, the ample amenities, the state-of-the art collaboration spaces and the sophisticated, bright design will not only enrich the workplace experience for our lawyers and business professionals, but will also enhance our ability to provide client service of the highest caliber.”

Freshfields announced a 15-year lease for the new 180,000 square-foot space in August 2022. In a continued effort to the firm’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the office was purposefully designed to have water efficiencies with slow flow water fixtures, electrical efficiencies for the lighting and air conditioning system, as well as furniture and fittings that met rigorous environmental criteria.
